Rev Dr. Elden Heyward began his education at Jane Edwards Elementary School on Edisto Island, SC. He attended Baptist Hill High School on Younges Island, SC. Upon completion at Brooklyn Tech in Brooklyn, NY, he enlisted in the US Army at which time he attended NCO School in Seattle, WA. He also taught as an instructor at Fort Gordon in Gordon, GA. After leaving the army as a Vietnam Veteran, Rev. Heyward met, fell in love with, and married Quintella Smalls on October 23, 1971. Rev. Heyward served as a part of the Deacon ministry at Lowly Nazarene Baptist Church in Bronx, NY from 1979 to 1982. Rev Heyward later served as Chairman of the Deacon Ministry at Praise Temple Baptist Church in Bronx, NY from 1982 to 1988. He served on the Deacon Ministry at Emmanuel Baptist Church on James Island, SC from 1989 to 1992. In 1992, Rev. Heyward joined Ferry Field Baptist Church on Johns Island, SC as a Deacon. After being chosen to walk in the Ministry, he gave his initial sermon in April 1995. In that year, he was ordained as a Reverend. He graduated from Morris College Extension, N. Charleston, SC in 1996 as the Class President. In 1997, God saw fit to place Rev. Elden Heyward as the under Sheppard of Union Baptist Church, N. Charleston, SC. In 2003, Rev. Heyward received his Bachelors of Arts and Masters in Christian Education. In 2004, he received the prestigious Doctoral degree in Christian Education. Rev. Dr. Elden Heyward is an adoring son, a caring brother, a devoted husband, and a loving father of three, but most importantly, he is a confirmed man of God, and a loving father of three, but most importantly he his a confirmed man of God.
